Welcome Second Lifers and People from the Really Real
World!
A lot of people who visit this site are friends and
customers of Nocturnal Threads, a store in the
virtual world of Second Life. Some are fans of the
GingerDead clothing but have no idea there is also a
GingerDead and Friends online
comic. However, since the web comic has
launched I expect this page will get visitors who are
fans of the webcomic and have no clue what SL is so
allow me to briefly explain.
Second Life is the online game that isn't a game.
There that should clear it up. To elaborate, I
make non-tangible clothing and sell it in my
make-believe store in SL which earns me some real life
money. Ah, now you get it! No? Oh
well. Second Life is something that really must be
experienced. So grab a free account and check it
out.

What does GingerDead have to do with SL? Well in
some ways he was born there. I did tees of him in
my cafe press store and at the same time brought a few
designs into Second Life. In SL I was able to
create jammies with big silly slippers and make a
lil GingerDead doll to give as a free gift. With my
limited resources this is not possible in real life.
Also, in SL I have a following of Nocturnal Threads
customers whom I could offer GingerDead merchandise to
and see how it was received. Well, the response
was overwhelming to be honest. People sent me
private messages saying how much they loved it. I
would run into avatars carrying around the lil
GingerDead doll. Some sent me pics with their
doll.
Eventually, I felt limited by only designing tees and
felt like a web comic might be the place for GingerDead
and his pals. I started drawing comics with my
Wacom in PS and a small collection began to grow.
I had nowhere to show them and started researching
other web comics and how to put together a proper site
to display mine. Simultaneously, I was sort of
channeling a builder in my mind. I knew there was
someone within the great metaverse of SL that was meant
to make my avatars. I'm ok with prims, but I
wanted someone with mad skills. Along came Syphex
Odets and within moments I knew he was my guy.
With Syph applying his talent and using my hand drawn
textures the avies were taking shape. I brought
aboard Keiki Lemieux of Huddles for the Animations and
Scripting. Meanwhile, in addition to my
regular Nocturnal Threads gear I was developing a new
line to be called the GingerDead collection. The
idea was to launch the webcomic, avatars and fashion
line all at the same time. A few months later and
it's about to become reality.

Now I get to be sappy and thank some peeps:
Gabe Lippmann for being a fan when it was just a doodle.
Honestly, if it weren't for your reaction and
continuous encouragement GD would have remained a
scribble on my hard drive. You're a rawk stahr!
Check out
Gabe's Blaaaahg about
his SL antics.
Syphex Odets who had no idea he was being summoned by my
spirit but answered the call anyway. Your
enthusiasm and dedication to breathing life into the
characters helped convince me I might actually be on to
something. Keep your eyes on this one SLers, he's
going to rock your world soon. I have seen the
avatars he will unleash in the near future and they are
astounding.
Keiki Lemieux of HUDDLES who took the time to study some
panels and use her creativity and skills to create
custom animations for the avatars, the "bite me" cookie and
for making my poofers poof. Hooo! When SL bugs
were eating my hope away, you came to the rescue.
Trinity Cole who jumped on board when I was losing my
mind to help troubleshoot the php, css and so on for the
website and for hosting gingerdead.com Want to
know what I listen to when I design? It's Trin's
station

I can't live without it!
Finally, to everyone who has ever taken the time to IM me
things like, "I love your GingerDead stuff. when
are you making more?" and "You're GingerDead
clothes should be in Hot Topic." You'd be surprised how much
simple things like that matter. <3
